Green office: Added value with plants

5 Nov 2019

Plants improve the work climate. This recognition is not new, but it is one that is gaining in topicality again.

The past spoga+gafa demonstrated how the attractiveness of rooms can be increased using plants. Under the motto "Living with Plants" ideas for decorating interior spaces with plants were presented on the POS Solution Islands. Plants provide a feel-good ambiance - and not only in private environments, also to an increasing extent in offices too.

Improving the comfort

Surveys have long since substantiated that plants significantly improve the comfort at work. In the scope of surveys the majority of the respondents assessed the influence of plants on their well-being positively. Plants at the workplace can increase concentration and significantly contribute towards a healthy interior climate.

Biophilic design

The theme well-being in the office plays a major role in the trains of New Work. Biophilic design is the term for modern work environment design with natural elements. The integration of real plants is the initial and simplest way of achieving this. They make the office more alive and create green niches.

Positive effects

Co-working spaces and other current workplace concepts use the positive effects of greenery in the office. The central implementation of plants creates a pleasant atmosphere and emphasises their homely character. Furthermore, the increased implementation of greenery in open office structures has an inspiring effect and increases the creativity.

Colour and classics

In addition to classics like ficus trees, yucca palms or gum trees, there is a wide spectrum of suitable plants for the workplace. Office workers with a busy diary will prefer uncomplicated plants like succulent plants or snake plants. Citrus trees or clivia are blooming alternatives for those, who prefer more colourful plants.

A variety of design options

There are also plenty of opportunities for the design of green workplaces today. Plants can climb up or hang down in offices, float across the walls and ceiling or stand on the floor in the classic fashion. Exhibitors of the last spoga-gafa presented a large variety of new potted plants, vertical wall and climbing systems for this purpose. In this way, offices decorated with opulent greenery are transformed into well-being rooms, where not only the plants, but also the employees flourish.
