At spoga+gafa, visitors can experience the trends and highlights for the coming gardening season first-hand. From 22 to 24 June, the horticultural sector will gather in Cologne to showcase its latest innovations. A preview of the latest product trends.

Outdoor living as an experience

As the world’s leading trade fair for garden lifestyle and BBQ, spoga+gafa has repositioned itself for 2026. Under the title “growing forward”, it is responding to dynamic market developments and changing consumer behaviour. New formats turn outdoor living into an experience by presenting outdoor spaces as an extension of the home. For example, the Living segment demonstrates how outdoor living comfort is being further optimised and refined. The latest outdoor furniture and accessories combine cosy design with timeless aesthetics and a relaxed colour palette.

Cozy with a system

Nowadays, balconies, terraces and gardens serve equally as green retreats and open-air living rooms. Contemporary garden design therefore invites you to linger. ‘Cosy’ is the keyword for new outdoor furniture and sunshade solutions featuring flowing shapes, a textile-like feel and a colour palette of calm restraint. As modular or flexible systems, they adapt to different situations and space requirements. Cosy details round off the overall look – such as teak armrests or cushions and parasols in the Pantone Colour of the Year ‘Cloud Dancer’, a delicate white with a warm glow.

Versatile planters

Versatility is also the watchword in the Creation&Care division. This is particularly true of decorative planters, with new collections designed for both indoor and outdoor use and to suit a variety of interior styles. Modular systems in a range of shapes and sizes offer enormous creative freedom. Plant pots and window boxes thus allow for customised configurations to make the most of the available space. Natural-looking textures resemble stone or reed both visually and to the touch, whilst the colour palette of the new products ranges from earthy tones to bronze.

Product ranges for sustainability

Like the rest of the horticultural sector, manufacturers of planters are increasingly focusing on sustainable product ranges. This includes durability, local production with short supply chains, transparent supply chains, and the use of recycled and recyclable materials. This ranges from reusable plant pots and garden trowels made from recycled polymer to tool sheds produced in a carbon-neutral manner. Renewable raw materials such as FSC-certified wood play just as significant a role in new garden products as energy- and water-saving technologies.

Organic plant care

As the focus on sustainability grows, so too does the demand for environmentally friendly solutions in plant care. As an alternative to chemical products, the upcoming spoga+gafa will showcase fertilisers and plant protection products made from natural materials such as sheep’s wool or wheat straw, featuring optimised formulations. This improves not only their application but also the supply of nutrients. Natural and non-toxic products are also increasingly being used to repel animals and insects. Fly swatters and scented sachets, for example, work without electricity or chemical additives.

AI makes gardening easier

Artificial intelligence has long been used in gardening products such as robotic lawnmowers. AI-controlled camera sensors enable real-time navigation and garden mapping. Even in difficult terrain, these smart gardening aids operate with the utmost precision and make their way to the charging station on their own when it rains or the battery is low. AI is also now simplifying the digital analysis of lawn problems. To combat drought, there are intelligent irrigation systems with smart sensors. They automatically adapt to current weather conditions and reduce water consumption.

Let's head out on an outdoor adventure

The fusion of lifestyle and the outdoor experience is also reflected in the BBQ and Outdoor Adventure sections of the trade fair. Versatile barbecues showcase the full range of modern technologies and cooking methods – from premium appliances featuring innovative combustion technology to handy, high-performance pizza ovens. For outdoor cooking on the go, compact appliances can be converted from cooking mode to barbecue mode in just a few simple steps. Manufacturers specialising in outdoor equipment are also showcasing new products at spoga+gafa, such as ultra-lightweight and foldable camping boxes or tents with an air tube system.
