At the upcoming spoga+gafa, the trade fair will open the new “Outdoor Adventures” area with equipment supplier Petromax. Many new exhibitors are expected in this segment, which is in high demand from the trade, in the coming years. We spoke to Hans-Jürgen Herr, CEO of the Petromax Group, about the new area, outdoor adventures and the outdoor lifestyle megatrend.

Antithesis to screen-based life

Dear Hans-Jürgen Herr, covering approximately 500 square meters, Petromax will be showcasing new products, ideas, and inspirations under the theme "Outdoor Adventures” at the upcoming spoga+gafa. What can we expect from that?

The wilderness is Petromax’s brand DNA. Our products are designed for adventure, showcasing their strength in places without electricity or running water. With us, you can cook outdoors, enjoy very bright light, a warming fireplace, and keep food and drinks cool for days. Petromax is the antithesis to our modern screen-based life. We want to show people how to experience and enjoy nature in all its facets - whether on an adventure or at home in the garden or on the patio. You can experience how this works with us at spoga+gafa.

Adventure-tested equipment

How will you realise this theme at the trade fair?

Our trade fair booth is an invitation to outdoor adventures. We will be demonstrating where our adventure-tested equipment can be used: whether on an off-road or rafting tour, camping, micro-adventures close to home or even in the garden. Every adventure counts. You don't have to travel far to experience adventure. The main thing is to just get outside!

Growth segment for retailers.

What makes this new segment so interesting for retailers?

Outdoor adventure is a global megatrend that is also opening up an exciting growth segment for retailers. More and more people, especially from urban areas, are seeking nature experiences, preferably close to home. We are growing older and more active. People are looking for individual experiences rather than all-inclusive packages. And they are willing to invest in quality equipment.

The outdoors as a feel-good place

Which visitor target groups are you addressing at the trade fair?

With Petromax, the outdoors becomes a feel-good place, not just for a few days a year but as an integral part of a new lifestyle. We look forward to welcoming all visitors to our booth who want to awaken their customers' inner adventurer with us.

And what are you personally most looking forward to at the upcoming spoga+gafa?

We are committed to making Petromax the number one adventure brand. I am most excited to write this new big story together with our customers. As a meeting place, spoga+gafa is an important first step on this journey. And of course, the trade fair is also a homecoming for me.
